Another Jitbag Hides Behind Snark To Write Witty ‘Hit-And-Run Excuses’ Listicle

1633182-1
Author Extraordinaire Felix Clay shared with the world a riveting glimpse into the world of hit-and-runs.

Namely, he wrote a gut-busting article on a website called “Cracked” about all the funny reasons that people flee the scene of collisions that leave people dead (or close to it) on the roadways.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, HILARIOUS FODDER!

Check out this poetic lead:

Don’t you hate getting run over? What a pain in the you-know-what, am I right?

Oh God yes, Felix, I DID hate getting run over. You. Are. Sooooo. Right. It was a pain in the I-know-what! LOL

And the worst part of nearly being vehicularly homicided is when the other driver can’t take the time to not speed off like the Road Runner just after the Acme delivery guy showed up.

So, there you are, bent in half, ass in the air trickling blood down your spine and onto your face as you lie peacefully in the gutter listening to your bone fragments grating against each other in a kind of semi-pleasant but very uncomfortable rhythm, and thinking, “Man, that was inconsiderate.” And all you can do in that situation is wonder what that other person was doing that was so pressing and so important that they couldn’t even pull over for a second to help you get your shoe out of your intestine.

The laughs just keep coming in.

Even though I was laying on the ground in a puddle of blood, my brain expanding to the point that they had to cut pieces of my skull out to make sure I lived, I get what he’s saying here!

Listen, I’m all for gallows humor. What I’m not for is gallows fan-fic about what it’s like to get run over by a car.

Yes, people use shitty excuses when they get caught for fleeing the scene.

No, it’s not necessary to write some half-assed snark about what happens in the aftermath to a hit-and-run victim and then fire back on Twitter that someone who’s actually suffered just doesn’t get it.

What Cracked needs is some sort of web presence that doesn’t rely on shutterstock-ish photos to illustrate poorly thought-out, unfunny tripe. And Clay needs a refresher course on quality-lede construction.

I know not why the person who ran me over fled the scene, but I’m sure it was hilarious. I’m sure other victims of unsolved hit-and-runs feel the same way.

Making light of people being hit by cars is no classier than making fun of people who suffer sexual assaults. And it’s time for people to stop pretending it is.

Some days, Tiffany Green struggles to get out of bed. It’s been more than five years since her eleven-year-old daughter, Alana Williams, was killed on the streets of East Oakland, but at times, the grief feels just as heavy as it did on the day she lost her child.

“It doesn’t get better. It just gets harder and harder,” said Green, 32, in a recent interview. “I sit and wonder how she would be turning sixteen.”

Just after 8 a.m. on October 16, 2009, Alana, a sixth-grade student, got off an AC Transit bus on 64th Avenue and Foothill Boulevard on her way to Frick Middle School.

After she took a few steps into the crosswalk, a black vehicle crashed into the young girl, according to the Oakland Police Department’s official report. Police wrote that Alana was pinned under the vehicle, and that the driver, in an attempt to flee the scene, ran over her a second time.

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) – The Columbia Police are still looking for answers in a 2012 hit and run accident that left a cardiac nurse seriously injured.

The accident took place September 16, 2012 as Lindsay Bires was standing on the sidewalk on Medical Park Drive.

Witnesses have stated that a white car ran off the road twice before striking Bires. The driver did not stop or render aid.

Witnesses gave aid to Bires as medical personnel arrived.

To this day, Bires still goes through intense physical and speech therapy on her road to recovery.

Rufus Henry Overbay Jr. was supposed to turn 43 on Tuesday.

Unlike previous birthday celebrations for the man affectionately called “Rudy,” Tuesday’s involved family and friends gathered along a small swath of sidewalk along East State Boulevard, near Kentucky Avenue, as the afternoon slowly faded into evening.

They wore T-shirts with Overbay’s picture on them and pointed to the street, right across from the Acme Tavern, showing where a woman just happened to drive by to find him laying at about 12:40 a.m. on Dec. 16.

“It’s somewhere right here,” his sister Tonya Morgan said, motioning at the asphalt.

Sometime before the woman who found him came by, someone else in a car struck Overbay. That person left the scene, leaving not only a badly injured man – still alive – but also debris from a headlight assembly.

Medics rushed Overbay to a hospital, but he died from blunt force trauma nine minutes after arriving.

Shortly after his death, Fort Wayne police released a grainy surveillance video taken from Acme that shows a sedan – dark in color, possibly red or maroon – in the area at the exact time someone struck Overbay.

ANTIOCH — While the parents of hit-and-run victim Timothy Hudson were burying their son at a local cemetery Monday, a crew of city workers and police converged onto the site of Hudson’s death to remove illegal speed bumps the family says was placed to prevent another tragedy.

The bump was installed Friday afternoon by a small group of men, three days after the Timothy Hudson’s mother, Linda Hudson, declared at a City Council meeting that speeding drivers had been a problem on the street long before the collision that killed her son and that speed bumps were needed. When the Hudsons did not hear back from the city, Linda Hudson, 73, planned to install them herself, but a group of “speed bump fairies” she did not know beat her to it, she said.

Mayor Wade Harper said he believes the folks who installed the speed bumps had good intentions but that they inadvertently created a liability by installing it.

CHP would only send alerts when police have offered sufficient description of the vehicle or when the suspect’s identity is known.

Family of 8-Year-Old Hit-And-Run Victim Hosts Rally In LOVE Park

Nyfeicah Johnson was badly injured in a Memorial Day hit-and-run in Southwest Philadelphia. She has since undergone a pair of surgeries with more on the horizon.

On Friday night, according to a story on Fox29, her family held a rally to bring attention to this case and those of others involving hit-and-run victims. Obviously, this is an important issue to which you should pay attention if you care about the well-being of others victimized by the self-preservationist selfishness of dirtbags.

Nyfeicah is the third child hit in Southwest Philadelphia over the past two months. In April a 4-year old boy was killed in a hit and run on South 57th Street. That same day a 2-year old boy was hit near 57th and Mascher and died days later. No arrests have been made. Nyfeicah survived but has had two surgeries so far. Her family says she’ll need more.

“It has affected us tremendously because my daughter is not the same child was prior to this,” said Johnson.

The family praised CHOP for the surgeries done to Nyfeicah’s face. They say it’s amazing.

Meanwhile the car that hit her is believed to be a gray Ford Taurus with tinted windows.

If you have any information call Accident Investigations at 215-685-3180/3181.

Here’s hoping Nyfeicah makes as full a recovery as possible.

At Ozark High School’s graduation earlier this month, one seat was left empty. It’s where Timothy Sparks would have sat, but Sparks was killed by a car that struck him while riding his bicycle on July 3.

Sparks was on State Route NN in Ozark. He was 18 at the time of the hit-and-run. Ten months have since passed.

Days after Sparks’s death, a tip about a nearby party led police to seize a vehicle, and shortly thereafter a man called police to confess to the hit-and-run, court records say.

However, no charges have been filed, and both Ozark Police and Christian County Prosecutor Amy Fite said the case is still under investigation.

The Alaska Senate majority’s chief spokeswoman was charged with three felonies and misdemeanor driving under the influence after police said she struck two women and drove away from the parking lot of the state Legislature’s Anchorage office building Tuesday around 5:30 p.m.

Senate press secretary Carolyn Kuckertz, 38, backed her sedan out of a parking space and hit one woman hard enough to knock the glasses off her face and send her to the hospital, according to charges and a sworn police statement filed Wednesday in Anchorage district court. She then bumped a second woman “in the back of her leg, causing pain,” the charges said.

“Witnesses reported the driver stopped and appeared to know she struck the victim because she had a look of shock on her face,” the charging documents said. “Another witness told the driver to stop and the driver said, ‘I can’t.’ ”

When a police officer later confronted the driver, she was so drunk she swayed while standing, the officer said.
