6237. Sacramento, Cal. Feb. 1. Man injured when struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
6238. Apple Valley, Cal. Feb. 2. Woman fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
6239. Anne Arundel Co., Md. Feb. 1. 37-year-old man fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.
6240. Claymont, Del. Feb. 2. 43-year-old woman injured when struck by a silver four-door sedan which fled the scene.
6241. Scranton, Pa. Feb. 4. 32-year-old woman injured when struck by a four-door Hyundai Sonata, either white or light-colored and made between 2010 and 2013, which fled the scene.

Judge Jeffery L. Finley found Ernest Priovolos, of Warrington, guilty and sentenced him to spend the next five to 12 months in prison on charges of causing an accident to an attended vehicle and six related traffic offenses stemming from an incident that occurred about 9 p.m. on Dec. 27, 2013, near the intersection of Bristol Road and Cooper Lane in Warrington.

The family of hit-and-run victim Skylar Marion urged lawmakers Wednesday to help police track down vehicles involved in such accidents and increase penalties for those who flee the scene.
“We can make a change here today. We can hold people accountable for their actions,” Dawn Caley, Skylar’s aunt, told the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee. “We may not be able to stop people from making bad decisions, but we can make it harder for them to get away with it.”
Caley and the Marion family were testifying in support of two pieces of legislation by state Sen. Bryan Simonaire, R-Pasadena.
Senate Bill 84 would increase the penalty for leaving the scene of a fatal incident from 10 to 15 years imprisonment.
Senate Bill 86 would establish a Yellow Alert program allowing law enforcement to quickly release vehicle information after fatal hit-and-runs.

The Orange County district attorney’s office filed charges Wednesday against a 20-year-old Emerald Bay resident accused in a fatal hit-and-run involving a cyclist last year, Laguna Beach police said.
Dylan Randluby is charged with felony hit-and-run and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in the collision on North Coast Highway that killed Laguna Beach resident John Colvin, 55.

New developments in the case against Maryland Bishop Heather Cook. Wednesday, a Baltimore grand jury indicted Cook following the hit and run accident that killed cyclist Tom Palermo. Police say her blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit and she was texting and driving.

SCRANTON — For the first time a new state law named for a boy killed in a hit and run is being used to increase the potential jail time for a man from Lackawanna County.
Police say the suspect, David Turano of Carbondale, attempted to flee the scene of a crash that killed a boy and badly injured the boy’s father.
Turano was brought into the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office where he was charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and involuntary manslaughter for a deadly Labor Day weekend crash. (H/T Mary G.)
